UPDATE: Coats of Paint Kickstarting January 21st
by Mark Greenawalt

The Coats of Paint book is complete and sent off to the printer. I will debuting the book and kicking off the Kickstarter campaign at an event on January 21st at the Unexpected Gallery in Phoenix, Arizona. I selected 50 images from my 16-year bodypainting career. The book will be a 9"X12" soft cover that is an homage to the art books that inspired me by Boris Vallejo and Frank Frazetta. I am also producing a smaller comic book sized edition for a separate tier of the Kickstarter campaign. It has all of the same images but they are condensed into 48 pages.

Congratulations to the following models who are featured in the book: Megan Brock (cover), Alison Cember (2 image appearances), Cynthia Van Eygen, Sharen Seitz, Evy Vermeulen, Amiii Richey, Tanya Mendes, Nyx Ortega, Molly Ehmann, Lindsey Electra, Chatel Birkett, Sarah Pirie, Julianna Muse, Cheyenne Silver, Stephanie Kyle, Connie Clapper, Jen Amber (3 image appearances), Lessa Michelle, Kelsey Weathers, Sheila Crosby, Erin St. Blaine (2 image appearances), April Mae Jorgensen, Gummi, Nikki Darling, Encina Severa (2 image appearances), Autumn Allbritton, Funz, Trisha Youkhana, Meria Birchak, Autumn Ivy, Mary Carver, Illyra Lynn Vote, Paris Harshman (3 image appearances), Matthew Lenzi, Courtney Black, Alexandria Pierce, Lynette Brooks, Lia Fowler, Chelle Bell, Kate Perrin, Ally Reynolds, Kyndra Jackson, Kristel Ama, Miss Krystle, Sonja Allen, Stacey Tappenden, Sarah Bowers, Kay Kochman, and Sadie Yurista.

This is also a book of glamourous photography. I was the photographer on a large majority of the projects, but I want to thank the following photographers who also contributed some great shots: Don Crossland (3 image credits), Daveed Benito, Brad Garner, Ed Clapper, Steve Gladyz, Images by O’D, Ratchford, Christos Sewell.

Acting in a Hollywood Feature Film - And It's On Hulu
by Mark Greenawalt

If we all get 15 minutes of fame, I should still have 14 minutes and 59 seconds left after my 1 second cameo in this feature film! Go to Hulu and watch All Out Dysfunktion! It's a little bit raunchy so send the kids to bed first. My acting credit is for playing a body painter at a rave scene and I show up at the 1hr4min25sec mark...don't blink. I did also get credit for doing the body painting on the DJ Candy Red and the two go-go dancers. The best time to check out the dynamic body art is at 59min30sec when the black lights turn on. For some people this might be a insignificant role, but for me, I am on cloud nine for being in a movie, filmed and produced in Hollywood, and available to stream on everyone's TVs. Thank you Christina Jo'Leigh and David Bianchi for inviting me to be a part of this.

Photography Adventure Club at Parkwood Studios
by Mark Greenawalt

I discovered a photographer's group that does some really intersting events to help photographers network and hone their skills. I attended one of their events and had a great time. There is typically a principle model who gets made up by a professional hair, makeup, and stylist team. For this evening they crafted a "Marie Antionette" look. The event was free, but to shoot the primary model using the studio lights was a nominal fee of $30. There was another set in the studio that had studio lighting set up where it was free to photograph volunteer models who would take turns modeling for all photographer attendees. Here is an image I took of Olga Maltseva. If you are interested in finding out more about the event go to photographersadventureclub.com and check out an upcoming project.

Illustration Selected for Inclusion in Art Coffee Table Book
by Mark Greenawalt

My illustration below is called "Mech". It has been selected to be in Infected By Art Volume 4. This book is described as"The Best of the World's Fantasy, Science Fiction, and Horror art book showcasing world-wide submissions of emerging artists who have submitted their art to IBA for a competition judged by some of the finest artists in the world." If you'd like to see all of the winning entries out of over 1400 submissions, go to http://www.infectedbyart.com/iba4winners.asp. You can order this book (and help to support this site) by going through the Future-Class X book store located at http://www.futureclassx.com/bodypaint/store.htm .

On a sad note, I'd like to send my condolances to friends and family of CJ Guerin who was taken from us way too young. Below is a picture of CJ modeling with the Mech painting at the Art Fashion Show in July. I had only known her for a very short time, but I was very sad to hear of her passing.
